The Vancouver Canucks have announced that star winger Brock Boeser will begin the season on injured reserve.
Details about Boeser’s injury have not been disclosed. On Oct. 1, head coach Travis Green declared Boeser would miss “about a week” and he returned to the ice Oct. 9. The Canucks will need to designate someone off their 23-man roster before activating Boeser.
He had 23 goals and 49 points in 56 games last season.
In other Canucks news, Brady Keeper (leg fracture), Tyler Motte (upper-body surgery) and Brandon Sutter (long-term COVID-19 symptoms) were also placed on injured reserve.
The team opens the regular season on Wednesday in Edmonton against the Oilers. Below is the Canucks’ initial 23-man active roster for the 2021-22 campaign.
Forwards: Jason Dickinson, Justin Dowling, Conor Garland, Matthew Highmore, Nils Höglander, Bo Horvat, Juho Lammikko, Zack MacEwen, J.T. Miller, Tanner Pearson, Nic Petan, Elias Pettersson and Vasily Podkolzin.
Defence: Kyle Burroughs, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Quinn Hughes, Brad Hunt, Tyler Myers, Tucker Poolman, Jack Rathbone and Luke Schenn.
