Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., second baseman Marcus Semien and outfielder Teoscar Hernandez were named among the winners of the Silver Slugger Awards for the 2021 season
Guerrero Jr., Semien, Hernandez, Bo Bichette, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. were the five players nominated from the Blue Jays after their 91-win season.
Guerrero Jr. finished 2021 with a .311/.401/.601 slash line, recording 111 RBIs and a major league-leading 48 home runs. Semien set a new MLB record for most home runs recorded in a single season by a second baseman (45). Hernandez was one of four Blue Jays selected to the 2021 All-Star Game and finished 2021 leading the team in RBIs (116).
Both Guerrero Jr. and Semien were named finalists for the American League’s Most Valuable Player Award. The AL MVP will be announced Nov. 18.
