Maple Leafs’ Timothy Liljegren leaves game vs. Ducks for precautionary reasons

Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Timothy Liljegren was forced to leave Wednesday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks for precautionary reasons.

Liljegren suffered the injury in the first period as he fell while attempting to make a play with the puck. As he went down to the ice, his head collided with the knee of Ducks forward Trevor Zegras.

The 22-year-old skated to the bench but then went to the locker room and did not return for the second period. Liljegren was also assessed a tripping penalty on the play after knocking down Zegras.

In 23 games this season, Liljegren has a goal and five points while averaging 16:16 of ice time.
