Clayton Kershaw, LHP, Los Angeles Dodgers — One-year, $17M contract

The future Hall of Famer was arguably the best starting pitcher on the market, but he opted to return for a 15th season with the Dodgers. The 33-year-old is a three-time Cy Young winner, but is coming off one of his weaker statistical seasons and an elbow injury that prevented him from pitching in the post-season.

Carlos Rodon, LHP, San Francisco Giants — Two-year, $44M contract

After seven seasons with the White Sox, Rodon is heading west to join another World Series contender. The 29-year-old was an all-star in 2021, threw a no-hitter against Cleveland and finished fifth in American League Cy Young Award voting. He has a career 3.79 ERA over seven MLB seasons, all in Chicago.

Andrelton Simmons, SS, Chicago Cubs — One-year, $4M contract

The Cubs have added an experienced veteran to their remade infield following a drastic sell-off at last season’s trade deadline. The 32-year-old Simmons is a four-time Gold Glove winner during his 10-year career. Last season he appeared in 131 games with the Twins, hitting .223/.283/.274 with three home runs.

Andrew Vasquez, LHP, Toronto Blue Jays — Major league contract

The Toronto Blue Jays added some pitching depth by agreeing to a major-league contract with left-hander Andrew Vasquez. The 28-year-old appeared in two games with the Dodgers last season, but he appeared in 39 triple-A games in the Dodgers system, pitching 48.1 bullpen innings with a 3.54 ERA and 79 strikeouts.

Martin Perez, LHP, Texas Rangers

— One-year, $4M contract

Veteran left-hander Martin Perez is set for a reunion with the Texas Rangers. Texas initially signed Perez as a 16-year-old out of Venezuela in July 2007, and he made his big-league debut with the Rangers in 2012. After his first seven MLB seasons with the Rangers, Perez went to Minnesota in free agency before the 2019 season and then to the Red Sox before the COVID-19-altered 2020 season.
