Team Jennifer Jones announces it will split up after this season

One of the best curling teams in the world is splitting up.

Team Jennifer Jones announced on Monday it will be “going in different directions” next season.

The move came two days after longtime lead Dawn McEwen announced she’ll be retiring after this season.

Jones, the veteran Winnipeg skip, guided her team to the Beijing Olympics this season before Canada missed out on the medal round.

Third Kaitlyn Lawes, second Jocelyn Peterman and alternate Lisa Weagle are the other members of the team.

Jones won Olympic gold in 2014 and is a two-time world champion and six-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion.

They are currently ranked No. 5 in the world.

Jones, 47, told Ted Wyman of the Winnipeg Sun she plans to continue playing next season.
