Canadiens’ Price begins new rehab stage, Drouin returns to lineup

Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price was back at practice with his teammates for the first time this season on Saturday morning.

The Canadiens also announced that Price has begun a new stage of rehab as he continues to build up a return to full fitness following off-season knee surgery.

There is still no timeline for his return. Price last played in the 2021 Stanley Cup final.

Despite the uncertainty in front of the net ahead of the trade deadline, GM Kent Hughes said that the Habs “don’t have plans to trade a goalie right now.”

Drouin in, Gallagher out

Jonathan Drouin will make his return to the lineup on Saturday night against the Ottawa Senators. The winger had been out with a wrist injury since late January. Drouin will play his first game under interim coach Martin St. Louis.

In other injury news, Brendan Gallagher will miss Saturday night’s game. The veteran is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Ryan Poehling and Andrew Hammond will miss one-to-two weeks of action. Kale Clague has been ruled out for one week.

On their ends, David Savard, Josh Anderson and Tyler Pitlick have all been listed as day-to-day. Pitlick has yet to feature for the Canadiens since being acquired from the Calgary Flames in the Tyler Toffoli trade back on Feb. 14.
